The Day I Couldn’t Find My Roll Number<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

My RAS Failure Story<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every year, there is one day that every RAS aspirant remembers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day RPSC uploads that PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s just a PDF. A few hundred names. A few pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But for someone preparing for years, it holds an entire life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some people open it once and scream with happiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some open it ten times because they can’t believe their name is actually there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then there are people like me\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026who keep searching the same roll number again and again, hoping the eyes made a mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They didn’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I still remember closing my laptop quietly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No shouting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No crying immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kind of silence that only you can hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For months, maybe years, your entire life revolves around one dream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You wake up thinking about RAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You sleep thinking about RAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You stop going to family functions because “padhna hai.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You stop meeting friends because “iss baar selection lena hai.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Birthdays become normal days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festivals become revision days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People think you’re studying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only you know you’re slowly giving pieces of your life to a dream nobody can guarantee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One PDF decides everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But How I feel that time .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the hardest part was telling people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My parents looked at my face before asking anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They already knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends started texting, “Result?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relatives called as if they didn’t already know the answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every time I had to say\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Nahi hua.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those two words never become easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What hurt even more was opening social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One by one, success stories started appearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photos with parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Messages saying, “Dreamscome true.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Was Genuinely Happy for them and well regards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if I say I never felt jealous\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’d be lying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not because they succeeded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But because I wanted that moment too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I kept asking myself\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What did they do that I couldn’t?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Did I not study enough?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Did I waste all these years?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes there are no answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that’s probably the most difficult truth to accept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One evening, when I was almost convinced that everything was over, someone older than me said something very simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He didn’t just Give me Motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He didn’t Say “Everything Happens For a Reason.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He simply said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Yash\u2026 bas tikke rehna. Apni baari bhi aayegi.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At that time, those words didn’t magically remove my pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But they gave me something more important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They gave me permission to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realised something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Failure doesn’t break us in one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We break ourselves when we start believing one result defines our entire worth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It doesn’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Know how this prepartion can feel so lonely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know what it Feels like to study in the room where only the sound of turning pages of the books keeps you company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know what it feels like to question yourself after every mock test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know what it feels like when everyone asks,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ab kya karoge?”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As if life has already ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But maybe life is kinder than we think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe our timing is simply different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, if someone who didn’t clear RAS is reading this, I don’t have any big motivational speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I know words cannot erase disappointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cry if you want to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take a day off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take a week off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sit with your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go home if you need to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But don’t make a permanent decision because of a temporary result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One result cannot measure your intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One merit list cannot measure your character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One failure cannot erase years of honest hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe your name wasn’t in this year’s PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That hurts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But maybe your story isn’t ending here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe this chapter is only teaching you something success never could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I’ll keep showing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll keep studying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll keep believing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because someday\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to look back at this version of myself\u2014the one who almost gave up\u2014and quietly say,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Thank you for not quitting.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wait untill its my turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
